Notability App Reviews

A colleague who writes about technology recommended Notability. As a health journalist, I have been using Notability for six months to take notes and record interviews for stories I’m working on, and I have also used it to capture class notes and audio for a university course. Notability helps me stay productive. I love how the notes and audio sync so I can quickly find the key quotes and points I need. Customer support is first class. I made a minor change to an account unrelated to Notability recently, and the change made it look like my files were gone. The customer support rep had lots of good ideas, patiently problem-solved my issue, and I recovered all my notes.

This is a great app…Quick response from customer service. Carlton replies promptly and is helpful :) However, I do hope that they can do something about the disappearing scroll bar. I hope that they can make the scroll bar accessible all the time...

I use Notability on my iPad ALL THE TIME, it’s fantastic, but the OSX version works well and allows me to view and modify content on either device.

How do i sync my files from my iPad to my MacBook with google drive?

How frustrating. The page keeps popping upwards as I try and write down the page. I see someone else had that issue on Feb. 7th. Is it being addressed?

1. Trouble syncing notes. Often does not even see the notes produced on my ipad pro. 2. CANNOT quit the application. Cannot restart my Mac even when notes are not syncing. Please fix!!

EDIT: For some reason, many notes says it’s “downloading” from iCloud, but it’s stuck there. I’ve waited and waited, but a lot of notes says it’s downloading, without any progress bar. I tried switching off iCloud and on again, but still same thing. All notes were taking on an iPad. EDIT: Also, no split screen support..I’m shocked.. I don’t like the UI. The subjects and other UI elements are so small, and it isn’t as friendly and nicer to use than iPad version. The UI is really boring as well. Syncing is nice though.

I must have tried every note-taking app in existence and I find Notability the best by far! It’s so easy to use. It syncs across all my devices and allows for hand-drawn, typed, image, or pretty well anything you can think of. Congrats to the developers!!

Onenote would have been perfect save for the fact they didnt bring a lot of the useful features to the mac version. Evernote does not take handwritten notes as far as I know. This is the only exceptional one. However, I wish it had tools to draw straight lines, squares, circles or at least, when handwriting notes, to have the algorithm “smoothen” the line like digital art apps (ex.firealpaca) where if you draw a crude sqiggly line, it’d smoothen it out(the option to turn this off or on would be nice too). Additionally, it would be helpful to have a “lined paper” like the kind when you put pencil to paper. I tend to not write straight when there arent any lines to guide me. I guess i could scan in a line sheet? I feel like an in app version would be cleaner. Good app nonetheless, better than the others. Well worth the price since other apps are adamant at not adding a handwriting feature.

Still I can’t input Japanese yet. Right after input a word, then it disappears. 日本語を入力して変換確定すると文字が消える。

Hi! Love the app. Have it on all my iOS devices and my Mac. Not really sure if this is a bug but when I input Japanese text and hit enter, the text disappears. Hope this anomaly get’s fixed soon as I really love using this app for taking notes in both English and Japanese.

日本語でノートにタイピングし漢字変換をしてエンターを押した際、最初の文節が消えてしまうという不具合があります。 描画やレイアウトなどの機能は素晴らしいですが、最も基本的な文字入力でつまづいてしまうと実用にはちょっと辛いですね。

Can’t type in Japanese Kanji. アップデート後も漢字入力ができません。 漢字に変換してからEnter Keyを押すと文字が消えてしまいます。 至急対応おねがいします。

This is a very elegant app, available on Mac and on iOS. I use it to keep PDFs, which I can organize in folders and sub-folders (but not sub-sub-folders) and easily annotate. It’s also possible to make text notes. I think it does need some polishing, though. When creating a new Subject, wherever your cursor is when you create it Notability creates it at the very end of all your Subjects and Dividers, which means you have to scroll down to find it and then move it up to where you want it. Another potential problem—ot at least a challenge for organization—is the lack of anything below Subjects (the equivalent of sub-sub-folders). It means that, to avoid endless scrolling, you may need to be a little bit creative about your organizational scheme. Note that my main problem used to be that the iCloud sync didnt work at all reliably. But that seems to have become much better recently.

I use Notability on my Mac / iPad and iPhone. All of my documents are on Notability and I can reach them via all of my devices. This app is the best app I have ever used. I would recommend it to everyone.

Notability benim için hayat kurtarıcı oldu, dersi grafik tablet üzerinden anlatıp ders notlarını google drive veya dropbox üzerinden öğrencilerimle paylaşıyorum. Ve Notability yazma deneyiminde on üzerinden on alıyor bence. Başka hiçbir program bu ihtiyacı karşılamayı yeterince başaramamıştı. Hem hem mac’de hem de ipad de bulunması ise işleri çok daha kolaylaştırıyor. Ipad üzerinde genelde yazmayı değil düzenlemeyi tercih ediyorum. Herhangi bir paylaşım yapacaksam onu da tablette halletmek kolay oluyor. Bir matematik hocası olarak dersi anlatırken öğrencilerin not almayıp dinleme özgürlüğü olması önemli, zaten derste yazılanın aynısını pdf formatında indirebiliyor. Anlatmış olduğum ders notlarını merak edenler için kelebeketkisi.org internet sitem. Finally I have some time to write a review. Notability is just a life saver for me. I teach using the graphic tablet at the classroom and upload the lecture notes on google drive or dropbox to share with my students. The writing exprerience with notability is on top of any other software. It makes things very easy having Notability on both Ipad and Mac. I generally write on my mac and edit on my iPad. As a math lecturer it is important to give my students the option not to write during the class but have the whole lecture downloadable as a pdf file. Lack of an option to export audio to mp3 is a disadvantage. I belive it’ll be added in the next versions. Great, effective app though for both mobile and desktop devices! The best I know. Good job :)

iCloud doesnt work !!! Fix it!!! i have bought for Macbook and for iphone
