Notability’s pdf/document annotation function is the most rubost of all the softwares I’ve tried. Other note taking apps, such as evernote got it wrong as their effort of vectorizing my handwritten notes ended up distorting them into inellegible scribbles.

The app is randomly deleting all my notes! A message saying my "notes were deleted on another device” keeps coming up, even with the brand new notes I start. FIX IT!

I use this app on my iPhone, Ipad and Mac for every single project. I use it for proofing plans, collecting information and presenting drawings. Get it, well worth the money.

This has reliably synced the notes from Notability on my iPad to my Mac, where I reference them sometimes. This excells at typed only notes, drag and drop PDFs, and some organization. I am not reviewing this as a stand alone application- but rather as completing digital only note taking. Without it notes were (this wansn’t always here) only on my iPad, for the benifit it provides if you use Notability on iOS is easily worth the purchase price.

1. when click on show the format column or the page navigation button, and the column appears, the note size shrinks, that’s fine. But when click again to hide the columns, the note area doesn’t go back to the size before, and it’s very annoying to adjust the window size every time. Please fix it so it goes back to the size automatically. 2. Cannot adjust width of the library column. I don’t need it to be that wide. 3. Text boxes should adjust to length of text automatically whiel typing. 4. Cannot move text without click on it and drag only the center square at the top. Should be able to drag when the mouse is on the text without having to click it once. 5. Should be able to download files directly from Google Drive or Dropbox. Too many flaws and so far I’m not getting my money’s worth. I might just use Preview if these are not fixed.

This is my favorite APP for school, especially when using my IPAD. I’m sure there’s many things but really I only have one request for the creators for optimizing it… which would be really helpful when using it on my laptop.. Because we have to highlight it ourselves and write stuff.. sometimes it’s not very neat.. I suppose as a .note you can’t highlight the words as you would with a pdf neatly, but can you please put a straight line option. That way I can underline stuff neatly? Thank you!

I used to use evernote to type all my notes for university and have them in one place and accessible on all devices but I got really fed up paying $5.99 a month just for the ability to mark up PDFs and save a large volume of content. I tried notability instead and I am hooked! The configuration is better than evernote and I didn’t have to pay for extra features like marking up PDFs. Go Notability Go! :)

Many features are lacking from the mobile experience. No page color changes, indenting is difficult, dark mode, etc. Really not worth the 6.99$ until it’s on par with the mobile apps.

Great App overall. Please introduce the ‘table’ feature in the typing mode. Need to draw lots of tables that I can re-size, add rows etc

As a University student who has to take a number of notes each day, I can say that this app is by far the best utility for school. The only problem I am having is the highlight which is off once you re-open the document.

App is not able to force quit and interupts the shut down of macbook. The audio playback occasionally glitches and does not work out, which is a shame because that was my favourite attribute of the app. If developers can find a way to import just the audio files, that would be great.

Many problems to sync with Icloud and they know it because they have a FAQ about that. But their tips don’t solve the problem. I wrote to them about it and they never answer me. The app is great but if it can’t sync correctly, so I lost my money with this.

What the h**l is wrong with you. I can’t access my notes I spent writing the entire semester, it simply tells me can’t access notes! It simply tells me the file X can’t be found. Wont give you the previous 5 stars I gave you until you get me my notes back

This app is very unstable and glitchy. It is sometimes difficult to resize the text boxes, undo will sometimes undo the second last step, not the last step, renaming documents in folders glitched on me twice and i could not rename them until i restarted the app. It needs to resemble the iOS equivalent much more!! For now, i give it two stars, as it seems like an unfinished product. At this time, this app does not deserve to be in the top 10 paid apps.

It has all the features needed to be a great note taking app, very helpful.

since the last update, a message saying “ “Notability” is damaged and can’t be opened. Delete “Notability” and download it again from the App Store.” I am afraid i am going to lose all my notes if i delete the app, as this is the only Apple product i own, so i cant check elsewhere to ensure I have them backed up, because frankly i dont know if they are backed up. Someone please let me know ASAP if deleting the app will get rid of my notes, or if Ginger Labs could let me know !

I love this app for teaching my students! The only thing I wish I could do was draw straight lines. Adding that feature would up my rating from a 4 to a 5. The pdf rendering is great - zero pixelation when zooming.

After updating to the newest version, the app will automatically shut down when I’m typing. When I try to re-open it, it shuts down again. It’s pretty much not usable anymore. Please fix this!!

The December 3, 2015 release of version 1.7.2 (27) now runs fine on startup. Many thanks to the developer for their quick response. I use this product daily on several devices and need to depend on its consistancy of operation.

UPDATE: “Notability” is damaged and can’t be opened. Delete “Notability” and download it again from the App Store ? Um.. what if my lecture notes didn’t sync? Seriously… before finals ? Ipad version 9/10 but mac version keeps on crashing ! and no, i did not get the El Capitain update =‘(( ...If I can’t rely on this app, I can’t use it. I’m in human geo and this app lives me life. I used to use it on my iPad and when I had to get a laptop i only bought a mac so that I could continue to use this app. I upload skeleton powerpoints, readings, my agenda and can write, draw, highlight, etc. on top. I can easily merge notes together and back-up to my google drive. Coupled with pages or google docs for essay writting, notability offers above and beyond capabilities.
